Fearless Fashionistas of the 2012 Golden Globes

It’s award season, so that means we’re on full fashion watch at First Class Fashionista!

The Golden Globes award show always sets the stage for up-coming trends and Spring’s top fashions. Since the red carpet is filled with the glitz and glam of our top celebs, stars have no choice to go above and beyond to stand out.

This usually isn’t a problem for Angelina Jolie. The ethereal beauty wore a streamline gold and red gown by Atelier Versace. The dress featured a triangle cross piece in a deep red that cut across Jolie’s left shoulder while exposing her right. The draping of the gown photographed beautifully while the front slit added to the understated drama of the design.

An up and coming fashion favorite of many is actress Emma Stone. The 23-year-old wore a deep mulberry gown by Lavin. The neckline was complimented by a high waistline and bird adorned belt.

Top honors of the night went to actress Michelle Williams for her performance in My Week With Marilyn. However. that’s not the only thing she was noticed for! William’s donned a figure hugging deep blue gown by designer Jason Wu. Instead of busing up the neckline, the actress chose to wear her jewelry in her hair; making her look polished and contemporary.

Last but not least my vote for best dressed went to Charlize Theron. The already naturally beautiful actress stunned audience’s in a pale peach chiffon gown by Dior. Theron, who’s known for wearing avant garde designs truly stole the show!

Hair Fashions for 2012

From protextions.com:

A new year has dawned and with it comes a plethora of fresh hair fashions. And whether your hair is long or short, there is a style for all hair lengths.

For those with long hair, fashionsing.com recommends homemade curls. Creating a 50s style vibe, homemade curls are an easy look to achieve. Simply part damp hair to one side and secure with a bobby pin. Tuck the other side of the hair behind your ear. Next, section the back of your hair and begin using a curling iron to create lose curls. Once all the hair has been curled, DO NOT brush it or finger comb. Instead, spray with hairspray and the look is complete!

According to Harper??s Bazaar, glistening hair is a new spring trend. Many looks within this fashion include hair that appears wet or damp at the roots. Slicked-back hair is also popular with ponytails. Messy knots that appear wet and dripping are also in style. On days when you don??t have time to wash your hair, this look can be a lifesaver!

Fringe bangs are also a popular new trend for those with short hair, according to fashionsing.com. Fringe bangs look best with bobs or pixie crops. However, if the thought of cutting bangs is a little unsettling, www.proextensions.com offers a line of clip-in Pro Fringe bangs that could be a great alternative!

British Vogue also reported that braids worn wrapped around the head, or tied with bits of leather, were also highly fashionable. This look could easily be achieved by those who have medium to long hair.

August 2011 Jewelry Tips

I’m sure that there are countless people out there who would never travel with jewelry, for fear of being a target for thieves. But me? You should know me well enough by now that I don’t go anywhere without jewelry! (except perhaps the shower…) Granted, I won’t bring my better pieces to certain places, but I will be adorned in some way, shape or form on each and every trip.

Getting your baubles from point A to point B with ease is easier than you might think. The first and MOST important rule is to carry your jewelry with you. Never put it in a checked bag, or you may not have your lovelies with you when you land. There are many products made for travel which are really quite convenient. I recently got this one made by Cathayana for a client in a local travel shop. (This is another cool version that you can hang as well.)

It has a good amount of storage space in various sizes, and I like how the sheer pockets allow you to see what you’ve got with you, as well as adding a nice layer of protective fabric for when it’s rolled closed.

The one thing that organizers like this often don’t have room for are the larger bangles or oversized necklaces. For these, I usually tuck them into a small clutch or evening bag. It’s something I would bring on the trip anyway, so why not use it for a dual purpose? Here’s what I often use:

A final concern are those long, thin necklaces that invariably get tangled no matter what you do. I’ve got the solution for you! First, take a piece of paper towel that’s about the same length as your necklace. Lay your necklace down near one edge of the paper towel.

First step…lay your necklace on the paper towel

Next, carefully roll the necklace up in the towel.

Step two

Finally, fold up this roll and put it into a baggie for tangle-free travel.

I hope you find these hints helpful. Enjoy your next trip while looking fabulously accessorized!

The 4th of July is such a fun time of the year and a perfect time to celebrate and share your U.S.A. pride.  Incorporating red, white and blue into your wardrobe or accessories is a great way to show your spirit. While thinking about what to wear on the 4th of July, I decided to search for all fashionable red, white and blue items.

There are so many to choose from and I had such a fun time creating a “wish list” devoted to 4th of July fashion!  I’m thinking about heading to the beach or out on the boat,  so I’ll  most likely be keeping it casual in denim shorts and flat sandals. Whatever you plan on…from fancy boat parties to chill cookouts…we’ve got you covered with these fun accessory options.

Check out the great 4th of July Fashion finds at ChiChi Collections!

The blue and white Relax in the Sun Straw Hat is perfect for shielding yourself from the sun and of course looking festive on the 4th!  The Time to Smell the Roses Purse is in a fabulous shade of red and is great for strolling through the park or having cocktails with friends. The Teal Love Hand Sanitizer Flask is a must have. Just strap it to your bag or toss in your purse and you will be all set. Weather you fill it with wine or fill it with hand sanitizer you will be prepared. Lastly, this Red Poppy Key Chain is great for collecting all your keys with an organized and stylish effect!

I hope this helps answer the big question…what to wear on the 4th of July!

Happy almost 4th of July!

Girl wears $25,000 Hollywood dress to prom

Lots of teenage girls go all out for their prom, but few get to wear a $25,000 Versace Couture dress designed for actress Christina Ricci.

Ricci wore the sparkling, pale gray, floor-length dress to this year’s Oscars.

Kayla Staskiewicz (STAS’-keh-witz) wore it to Waterford Mott High School’s May 13 prom.

The Oakland Press of Pontiac reported Sunday that her father, Mike Staskiewicz, entered her name a WDIV-TV contest to win a chance to wear the size 0 dress.

Staskiewicz says there was just one question when she learned she’d won: Would it fit?

She says on the station’s website that she stepped into the dress the day before the prom, and it fit beautifully.

Staskiewicz told the newspaper she felt “really pretty” and her mom kept calling her Cinderella.

Butt Dress Makes Fashion Statement

France’s latest fashion statement has nothing to do with haute couture and a lot to do with saving the streets of the city of Paris from the scourge of cigarette butts.

Paris student Flore Garcia Bour, 22, is picking up butts by the hundred from the streets and stitching them painstakingly into a dress in an effort to draw attention to the smelly detritus degrading the city’s streets.

The international relations graduate says she does not aim to stop smokers lighting up, just to change their behaviour.

“I have always been revolted by the number of butts dropped on our streets while it would be simple to change habits and to put them into a rubbish bin,” she told AFP.

“I hope my dress shocks smokers and plays a role in making them more aware of the damage they do by throwing their butts away that degrade in 18 months at best or 12 years at worst.”

She started stitching the dress on April 26 and plans to finish it on May 15 with cigarette butts collected in jars from all over the city then treated to remove the evil smell.

Her progress can be seen on a blog in French on www.lemegotdefi.com.

April showers bring spring shopping!

When mother nature nurtures us with her thrashing winds and downpour of rain, many turn to shopping. The gloomy weather intrigues everyone  to head for the stores like birds flying south. When theres little to do, shopping gives a reason to get out of the house. Instead of falling into this trap, try fighting the urge.

New seasons always call for new clothes right? Wrong. The start of spring should instead bring “spring cleaning.” Anything you have not worn in the past year THROW OUT! If you have not worn the clothing within the year, it’s just taking up space in your closet. Sell these clothes to “Twice is Nice” or donate to the YWCA. As they say, “one mans trash in anothers treasure.”

Just because you have nothing better to do on a rainy day does not mean you should blow your hard earned money on clothes. When days like these come around, clean!  While organizing and throwing out your clothes, your mind will wonder from buying new clothes and focus on the necessities.
